After you have applied

The municipality processes your application for a start-up loan and/or a grant. You will receive a response as soon as it has finished processing it. The processing time varies from municipality to municipality. Contact your municipality if you want to know how long it will take to get a response.

  • You are not considered to be financially disadvantaged.
  • Your income is too unreliable/low to make your loan payments.
  • There is a high risk that you wouldn’t be able to make your payments for the whole term of the loan.
  • The municipality doesn’t have any more funds for start-up loans this year. You can reapply next year.

You can appeal against the municipality’s decision on a start-up loan. The deadline for appealing is three weeks from receiving the decision.

You can appeal against:

  • The municipality’s decision on whether to grant a start-up loan.
  • The calculation of the size of the start-up loan.
  • Any dismissal or rejection of an application for a start-up loans.

Your appeal options should be described in the decision letter you get from the municipality. You should send your appeal to the municipality. 

Municipalities use the Housing Bank’s interest rate schedule. On top of that, municipalities can add 0.25 percentage points of interest to cover their administrative expenses.

All municipalities can offer fixed-rate loans, but not all do. Contact the municipality where you are applying for a loan to find out what they offer.
