You can change the account number by logging into My housing allowance.
If you are unable to make changes electronically, you must tell your municipality’s housing allowance department. If you have a legal guardian, the guardian must contact your municipality.
If you move, you must reapply for housing allowance. You must also report any change of address to the National Population Register. It is not enough to tell the post office or NAV that you have moved.
You can log in and reapply once your move has been registered with the National Population Register.
You can notify the National Population Register that you have moved (Skatteetaten.no).
Then you must report any changes to your municipality on paper.

If someone moves into your household, you must add the person/people to your application.
If the person notifies the National Population Register that they have moved, they will be automatically removed from your application. You don’t need to do anything.
If you are unsure whether they have reported their move, you must notify your municipality/borough in writing, including the name and national identity number of the person/people who have moved out. Remember to include your national identity number.
If you know that the person hasn’t reported their move, you should also notify the National Population Register through Skatteetaten.no.

You must tell us about any changes in your rent, shared costs, mortgage payments and other housing expenses. You can do this by logging into My housing allowance.
Then you must notify your municipality/borough of the changes in writing. Remember to include your national identity number. You must document the changes. If you live in municipal housing, you don’t need to document how much rent you pay.
You must tell us if you or anyone else in your household becomes a student. A student refers to anyone who is entitled to a loan and grant from the State Educational Loan Fund, including school pupils and apprentices over the age of 18. You can notify us electronically from My housing allowance.
Then you must notify your municipality/borough in writing. Remember to include both your own national identity number and the student’s number.
If there’s a new child in the household, you can edit your application in My housing allowance.

You must tell us if anyone in your household starts or completes their initial military service. You can notify us electronically from My housing allowance.
Then you must notify your municipality/borough in writing. Remember to include your own national identity number and the number of the person doing their military service. You must state whether the person doing their military service lives at home or where they are posted.
You must tell us if anyone in your household has a change in their income from self-employment, income from capital, foreign income or wealth. We call these types of income reportable income. You don’t need to document the information.
You don’t need to tell us about monthly income such as wages/salary, benefits and grants. We get them automatically from the Norwegian Tax Administration each month.
Your reportable income is checked when your tax assessment for the current year is ready. If there is a discrepancy between the income we have used to calculate your housing allowance and the tax assessment, we perform a reassessment. If you have received too little housing allowance you will get a top-up payment, and if you have received too much you will have to repay some of it.

Parents pay tax on their children’s wealth until the year when the children turn 17. If you (or another parent) have high net wealth because you pay tax on a child’s wealth, you can ask us to deduct the child’s wealth. You can do that by completing the following form.
